About ACI

Recognising the importance of audit committees, the Audit Committee Institute Ireland (ACI) was established in 2003 to serve audit committee members and help them to adapt to their changing roles. Historically, audit committees have largely been left on their own to keep pace with rapidly changing information related to governance, audit issues, accounting, and financial reporting.

The ACI’s primary mission is to communicate with directors of companies who are audit committee members. It provides these directors with access to information that helps enhance their knowledge and ability to implement effective audit committee processes, given that their responsibilities to shareholders are now much more far-reaching than in the past.

The ACI serves as a useful, informative resource for audit committee members in such key areas as:

  • audit committee governance, technical and regulatory issues
  • acting as a sounding board to enhance audit committees’ processes and policies
  • surveys of trends and concerns.
